Thank you for a beautiful 25th season!

Unbelievably, today is the final pick up of the summer season!

To all of our members: Thank you! CSA membership is more than just a grocery pick up; it’s a commitment to community and sustainability, and it requires patience, flexibility, and a bit of work! It takes a lot to make this happen every week, and it wouldn’t happen without the active support of our members.

Don’t forget to sign up for a winter share by November 6, and look out for a email from us in March regarding the 2027 summer season (current members will have priority access and do not have to sign up for the waitlist!).

Winter Share signups are now open!

Announcing the return of the Windflower winter share: three once-a-month deliveries on Saturdays: November 21, December 19, and January 9 (please note, the January date has changed!) The summer CSA season comes to an end soon. Would you like to extend the CSA season into early winter? The winter share will consist of a full bushel of vegetables from our root cellar, apples from a neighbor’s orchard, fresh greens from our winter greenhouse, and occasional treats like apples cider and local honey. Shares of eggs, maple products, and grains will also be available.

All members need to be fully paid for the 2026 summer share before they can sign up for the winter share.

2026 Carrot plan members ONLY can receive a subsidized winter share for $89.

News from Windflower Farm

Delivery #22, October 29, 2026

We got off the farm today to paddle our canoes among the islands in the narrows of Lake George, which is an hour to our north. Travelling with us was our friend Brian, a fellow vegetable farmer. Hemlocks, rust colored white and red oaks and wind whipped white pines lined the shore. A loon made its eerie and beautiful cry and then dove as an eagle, a potential predator, flew low overhead. We found a cove along the eastern shore called Paradise, where we lunched on - what else? - roasted sweet potatoes, carrots and beets.

We arrived home in time to close the greenhouses against tonight’s cold. These are where we are growing kale and spinach for the winter share. The Hunter’s Moon was rising and the sky was clear, a few stars showing themselves. We’ve had several nights when temperatures were in the upper 20s, which is what we expect again tonight. Last plantings of butterhead lettuce and kale and bok choy lie beneath row covers where we hope they’ve been safe. Many crops can experience a mild freeze and still be fine to harvest once they’ve thawed, so tomorrow we’ll delay harvesting until about 10:00. The day is expected to warm to the mid-60s and to be sunny, and the atmosphere, because it’s the last harvest of the season for many on the team, will be celebratory.

This week’s delivery is the last of the season. On behalf of the whole Windflower Farm team, I’d like to thank you for being with us. We hope you’ve enjoyed your share of the farm’s harvest. I’d especially like to thank your site’s organizers, the core group, who are the wonderful people responsible for making the CSA work as well as it does. Thank you!

Again, Windflower Farm's 2026-2027 Winter Share is the link to our winter share informational and sign-up page. Registrations will be open until November 6th or until we sell out of shares. The first delivery will take place on November 21st.

Best wishes, Ted
